Theme: "My Different View"

Eligibility: The essay contest is open to recent AFS returnees. Only returnees who went abroad between July 2005 and December 2006 are eligible to participate in this contest.

Participating Countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium (Flemish speaking only), Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Honduras, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United States, and Venezuela.

Language: Native language or any other language approved by the AFS sending country (e.g. English).

Length of essay: 600-800 words.

Format: Submissions must be made in electronic format as a Microsoft Word document via www.mydifferentview.org

Deadline: Participants must submit their essays by 1 June 2007 via www.mydifferentview.org

Prizes:
1st Prize: US $2000 plus a trip to New York City for the 60th anniversary celebrations and the World Peace Forum.
2nd Prize: US $1000.
3rd Prize: US $500.

Notification of Winners: The winners will be selected by 20 August 2007. The 1st prize will be presented on Friday evening October 26th, 2007 in New York, United States of America, as part of the AFS 60th Anniversary celebrations and the World Peace Forum.
